Many of them offer fonts you can download for free and install on your computer. Some ideas include www.dafont.com, www.freefonts.com, and www.1001fonts.com.

  9. What can I use to dress up my invitations?

Just take a walk through our store and you’ll see tons of possibilities for adding a little extra flair to your design. Some ideas include: Rubber or clear stamps, embellishments, stickers, rub-ons, patterned paper, punches, pens, paint, glitter, ribbon, chipboard…and the list goes on! If you’re stuck, please feel free to ask any of our store associates for ideas—they’ll steer you in the right direction! Just remember, if you use 3-D, heavy, or “lumpy” embellishments, there may be additional postage costs.

  10. What is the difference between text and cover weight paper?

Text weight paper is slightly lighter in weight and thickness than cover weight paper. For most projects, you can use either type of paper, depending on the thickness you want your final design to be. For RSVP cards or anything that will be sent directly through the mail, cover weight paper is the best option. If your card or invitation includes lots of layers, try using cover weight paper for the base (providing stability) and using text weight for the layers, to reduce bulk. Remember, a heavier, bulkier invitation may cost more in postage to send. We recommend you experiment with both types of paper to get your desired outcome. If you are printing, we recommend you test both types of paper with your home printer to make sure the paper is compatible with your printer and gives you the results you want.

  11. How do I line an envelope?

Lining an envelope with matching patterned paper or cardstock is an easy way to add extra style to your invitation or card. Begin with a piece of paper that is as wide as your envelope is. With your envelope open (flap extended upwards), slide the paper into the envelope. Flip the envelope over and trace around the flap on the paper. Remove the paper and trim, cutting approximately 1/8” inside the line you drew. Adhere to the inside of your envelope and it’s ready to send! 12. I love the look of stamping, but I’ve never done it before—is it easy to learn?

Yes! Stamping is a fun and easy way to dress up your card or invitation. There are two types of stamps—wood-mount and clear. Clear stamps are easiest for beginners because you have the ability to see where you are stamping, reducing the likelihood of mistakes! Pick up a clear acrylic block and your chosen acrylic stamps. Peel the stamp off the acetate sheet and apply it to the clear block (the stamp will cling to the block). Ink your stamp, position it above your paper, and press down, providing uniform pressure to all parts of the stamp. Lift up slowly and marvel at your success! If you have questions, our store associates can help you pick out the right type of stamps and ink for your project, or take our FREE Rubber Stamping Basics class for even more tips and tricks!

  13. How do I heat emboss?

Heat embossing gives your stamped images a raised, slightly shiny look. Stamp your image using VersaMark ink (which is colorless), and, while the ink is still wet, sprinkle with your chosen color of embossing powder.Your embossed image will take on the color of the powder, so select a color that matches your project. Lift your paper up and tap the edge on a hard surface (a work mat or table, for example) to remove any excess powder.Use a heat gun to heat the powder, keeping the heat gun approximately 6” away from your paper and gently moving it back and forth to avoid burning the paper. The powder will rise right before your eyes! If you have questions, our store associates are happy to do a demonstration if you need one!
