Materials needed:

  • 1½” x 10” opal cover weight paper—Yours Truly (five per 8½” x 11” sheet)
  • 2” x 2” quartz text or cover weight paper—Yours Truly (20 per 8½” x 11” sheet)
  • 3” x 7¾” quartz text or cover weight paper—Yours Truly (three per 8½” x 11” sheet)
  • 3½” x 8¼” opal text or cover weight paper—Yours Truly (three per 8½” x 11” sheet)
  • 8½” x 11” shimmer silver and opal stripe patterned paper—The Paper Company (one per 12” x 12” sheet)
  • Dry adhesive, such as a tape runner

Suggested tools:

  • Scoring tool
  • Bone folder
  • Paper trimmer
  • Pencil
  • Ruler

Instructions:

  1. Begin with a horizontal (landscape) letter-sized document in a word-processing program. Create three columns and adjust the margins to match the dimensions above. Type and format inner invitation text, centered in each column.
  2. Print invitation text on quartz paper and trim on all sides to create three 3” x 7¾” pieces.
  3. Adhere quartz paper to 3½” x 8¼” opal paper.
  4. Use a scoring tool to score patterned paper twice, creating three equally sized sections.
  5. Adhere invitation piece to middle section. Fold patterned paper flaps over to close, using a bone folder to create a crisp edge.
  6. Wrap 1½” x 10” opal cover weight paper around closed invitation, creating a band. Use a bone folder to create a crisp edge. Adhere in the back.
  7. Using a word-processing program, create a vertical (portrait) letter-sized document. Create four columns and adjust the margins to match the dimensions above. Type and format outer text. You will be able to fit five text boxes in each column.
  8. Print outer text on quartz paper and trim to create 20 2” x 2” pieces.
  9. Adhere outer text to the center of opal band.
