I purchased a paper piercer tool (with roller, with different style attachments) for use with embriodery floss (cross-stich, straight stich, etc), and have not been successful in using it. I have tried presing as hard as I dare on cardstock, and it barely makes a dent. I've tried putting the cardstock on my self-healing craft pad, a stack of scrap paper, etc, and still cannot get a true punch. Can you please offer some advice? Thank you!!

If the tool you purchased is the Sew Easy Stitch Piercer from We R Memory Keepers, we recommend using the Piercing Mat (also from We R Memory Keepers) with the tool. It's made from a nice thick foamy material and gives you enough cushion to pierce cardstock and thick patterned paper. It also might take a bit of practice to apply even pressure when using the tool. It's a great tool, so hopefully this helps!
