Hi Robin, I have the Sizzix Big Shot Machine. I am trying to cut out a wedding dress and all of the previous impressions are showing on my dress. Am I doing soemthing wrong that I am putting the impressions on the plates - or do i need to replace the plates every so often? Also, where can I find these plates?

Sometimes it depends on the "sandwich" you've created with the platforms, plates, die, paper, etc. If the sandwich gets to thick, the marks on the cutting plate can get "embossed" onto your paper. You can try cutting two pieces of paper instead of just the one. Cutting plates are meant to be used over and over and over, but at some point they get to the point where they look terrible. It could be time to get new cutting plates. If you're using the super thin dies (like QuicKutz) your sandwich should be thick platform, shim, cutting plate, die/paper, cutting plate. If you're using one of the thick Sizzix dies, your sandwich should be cutting plate, die/paper, cutting plate. If you're using one of the thinner Sizzix dies called a Sizzlet, the sandwich is platform, cutting plate, die/paper, cutting plate. Stop by your local Archiver's and they'll be more than happy to help you find new plates, or create the right "sandwich" of platforms, plates, etc. Hope this helps!
