I just bought the Tim Holtz alterations Townscape die. His picure on the cover shows every house a different color and then distressed around the edges. The girl at Archivers didn't know how he did this. How do I recreate that look?

There are a few different ways to create this look. The first is to die cut the image out of paper, chipboard, whatever it is your project needs. Paint each house a different color as desired and then paint the base of the image. Use a brown paint dabber to "distress" the edges. To get in the windows and small edges, you might need to use a paint brush. Another way to create this look is to die cut the image out of different pieces of colored cardstock or patterned paper. You can then ink the edges or paint the edges to create the distressed look. Hope this helps!
